When you create an account, we collect your email address and password. Your password is hashed and stored securely. We never store it in plain text and we never will.
We store the tasks, metrics, journal entries, and other data you enter into Katalist. This is the core of the service. Without it, there is no service. We treat your data with the same care we would want for our own.
If you opt in to SMS task management, we collect your phone number. We also collect basic usage data like page views and feature usage so we can understand how people actually use the product and make it better.
We use your information to run the service. That means storing your tasks, displaying your metrics, syncing your calendar, analyzing patterns in your data, and keeping your account secure.
We send transactional emails when necessary (password resets, account confirmations, that sort of thing). We also use your email to respond if you reach out to support.
We collect your phone number only if you choose to enable SMS task management. Your number is stored securely and used solely for that feature. We never sell or share your phone number with anyone. Period.
Standard message and data rates from your carrier may apply. You can opt out at any time by texting STOP or by removing your number from your settings page.
If you sign in or sign up using Google, we receive your name and email address from your Google account. We use this information solely to create or identify your Katalist account. We do not access your Google contacts, files, or any other Google data through the sign-in process.
If you connect your Google Calendar, we sync your events so they appear alongside your tasks and metrics in Katalist. We only read calendar event data (title, time, location). We do not modify your Google Calendar or access any other Google services through this integration.
Katalist uses AI to analyze your metric data and surface patterns and insights. Your data is sent to our AI provider for processing but is not used to train their models. We do not sell your data to AI companies or anyone else.
We do not sell your data. Full stop. That is not our business model and it never will be.
We use third-party services for hosting and email delivery. These services process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy obligations. We may also share data if required by law, but that has never happened and we hope it never does.
Your data is kept for as long as your account is active. If you want to delete your account, you can do so at any time from your settings page. Deleting your account removes all of your data permanently. No archives, no backups kept around for months. It is gone.
We use session cookies to keep you logged in. That is it. No tracking cookies, no analytics cookies, no third-party cookies following you around the internet. We think that stuff is creepy and we want no part of it.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version here with a new "last updated" date. No surprises.
Katalist is operated by Adam Roth, Inc. If you have questions about this policy or anything else, reach us at support@katalist.app or use our contact form and we will get back to you.
